Bishop Jack here. In a year that has been marked by unprecedented challenges and global crises, we at Blessing Hands USA believe that Giving Tuesday takes on a renewed significance. It is crucial that we come together as a community to acknowledge, honor, and observe this day of giving. As we face ongoing wars, atrocities against children, and the genocide in the Congo, it is clear that the need for support and action is urgent. In this article, I will explore why this Giving Tuesday is different from others and delve into the global issues that demand our local attention.

Where are the crises and opportunities?

Though there are countless examples of crises and challenges facing humanity, there are three that primarily stand out.

  1. War continues to wreak havoc on communities worldwide, displacing millions and inflicting unimaginable suffering. This Giving Tuesday, we have an opportunity to make a tangible difference by supporting organizations dedicated to providing aid and relief to those affected by war. From delivering essential supplies, to offering trauma counseling, our collective efforts can help restore hope and rebuild shattered lives.
  2. Children are often the most vulnerable victims of conflicts and humanitarian crises. Their innocence is shattered as they face violence, exploitation, and displacement. This Giving Tuesday, let us stand up for the rights of these children and support organizations that work tirelessly to protect them. By providing access to education, healthcare, and safe spaces, we can help ensure a brighter future for these young souls who deserve nothing but love and care.
  3. The ongoing genocide in the Congo demands our immediate attention and action. With lives lost and communities torn apart, it is imperative that we use this Giving Tuesday to support organizations working on the ground. By contributing to initiatives that provide medical aid, food, clean water, and resources for rebuilding, we can help alleviate the suffering and bring hope to those affected by this devastating conflict.

While these global issues may seem distant and out of reach, they have consequences that touch us all. The impact of war, atrocities, and genocide extends beyond borders, affecting individuals and communities in our own backyard. This Giving Tuesday, let us recognize how our local actions have a global ripple effect and become intentional on exactly how we can advocate for positive change.

The Giving Tuesday Call to Action

Put an end to the current war by contacting your elected representatives and expressing your concerns and desire for peaceful resolutions (https://www.house.gov/representatives). Additionally, supporting organizations and initiatives that promote diplomacy and peaceful conflict resolution like United States Institute of Peace and the Carter Center can also make a difference.

Put an end to the atrocities committed against children during war by supporting and donating to organizations that provide humanitarian aid and protection to children in conflict zones, such as UNICEF or Save the Children. By raising awareness about these issues through social media, community events, and engaging with local and national policymakers, could lead to greater change.

In the Congo, the fight is over precious minerals and materials used to create and operate the electronics, televisions, smartphones, and tablets that a large number of Americans and other western populations purchase and use. By being aware and then spreading that awareness are the first steps to influencing positive change in the Congo.

Purchasing electronics from companies that have committed to using conflict-free minerals, purchasing used electronics, and advocating for legislation that promotes transparency and accountability in the supply chain of electronics are simple ways that we can make positive global impact.

One of the most powerful ways to make a difference this Giving Tuesday is by using your voice, resources, and awareness to join the global movement, NOW. By taking part in any of the listed actions or initiatives, you have the opportunity to contribute to positive change on a massive scale.

Whether it’s donating to a charitable organization like Blessing Hands USA by purchasing a Blessing Shoe, volunteering your time and skills at SafeHouse Outreach in Atlanta, GA, or by spreading awareness about important causes, your participation can have a ripple effect that reaches far beyond your own community.

Giving Tuesday has gained momentum over the years and has become a day dedicated to generosity and compassion. It serves as a reminder that we all have the power to make a difference in someone’s life, no matter how big or small our actions may seem.

So why wait? Be intentional on this Giving Tuesday and be part of this transformative movement that brings people together from all corners of the globe with one common goal: to create change and impact lives for the better.

GOD Bless,
